Mainly for emails, messaging, browsing the internet and for the occasional video watching. The Asus EEE does it all and does it well. Quick enough speed, well lit monitor, average sound. It does what I want it to do with little or no problems I have had a few issues with mine however. Every once in a while, my keyboard locks up and doesn't accept any new characters. I'm forced to shutdown and reboot the PC at which point it resumes normal use. I've also noticed that some of my "F" keys no longer work. I could probably take it in and have it serviced, but it doesn't interfere with my use, so I don't even really notice it that much. If you're looking for something small for email, browsing, chatting and/or moderate Word Processing, I highly recommend the Asus EEE. It's so small and easy to take around and the graphics and speed are fine. I haven't bothered to upgrade to 2 gigs yet, but no problem as it is. Setting it up and connecting to my wifi was simple also. I'm impressed by the battery life; using the power saving features, I'm getting about the 8 hours as advertised. Sure the mouse if tricky, but that was to be expected. I've never owned a laptop before, but I'm sold on this one. 9 of 10 people found the following review helpful: A Lot More than a Netbook in my opinion, By VSant (San Francisco Bay Area) - See all my reviews This review is from: Asus Eee PC 1005HAB Netbook - Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz / 10.1" WXGA / 1GB DDR2 / 160GB HD / Webcam / Windows XP Home (Personal Computers) I bought this netbook for my son for college (no DVD so limited to no gaming). I ended up trading him for my (ugh!) Compaq Vista notebook that has a slightly stronger wi-fi card. I hated the fact that Vista required me to learn all new versions of my software. Microsoft really f***ed up there. OK I didn't expect much from this $249 computer, BUT I WAS WRONG. Running in full screen mode much of the time I really had little adjustment to make. It's running all of my XP software including Photoshop, MSOffice, that I am a "power-user" on and hated to give up for Vista pointless versions. There isn't a software yet that I haven't been able to load and run as well if not better than other machines with DVDs. I keep all my software setup files on a "setup" external drive anyway for ease of restoration purposes so the lack of DVD is nothing. The startup and close-down time is remarkable compared to all the other computers I have ever used. Plus, I download movies from Netflix really... Read more |
